15% of The Vella Group's workforce are apprentices, with plans in place to ensure that almost every department in the business has had the opportunity to have an apprentice within their team and contribute to their development.
This early involvement in apprenticeships developed into a core strategy and belief of the business as the company grew, and many of the business' early apprentices remain part of the Vella Team to this day.
Over the years, the dedication and commitment of Karl and the team led to the company's training programmes winning a variety of rewards; with Karl himself earning the ultimate recognition in the Honours List in 2007, being awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace and, in the same year, the IMI Industry Achiever Award.
