What achievement are you most proud? (work wise)?
Broadening my knowledge and getting more involved in the management accounts side these last couple of months, taking on more weekly tasks and month end parts to help out the team where I can. My confidence has grown since I started 2 years ago, and this has been through building good relationships with external suppliers and internal employees.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years' time?
Hopefully, I would have passed all my exams, finished studying and be a rich retired accountant.... But I don't think that will happen so soon! So realistically, finish studying and work my way up in accounts expanding what I do within the finance department.
What's the most valuable skill you've learnt working in Finance?
Time Management is key in finance, we have quite a few deadlines to meet throughout the month, making sure suppliers are paid on time, month end is complete on time, as well as the daily unexpected, problematic emails to sort as soon as possible when they come through.
What does a typical day in work look like?
My main day to day consists of checking invoices with managers, chasing any missing invoices with suppliers, querying invoices with suppliers and sites, paying suppliers, and completing weekly bank reconciliations (checking what we've paid through sage matches what's gone out the bank).
Tell us about your team, who you work closely with.
My team is a group of 5 wonderful ladies! Becky being the Finance Manager, Poppy and Megan are the Regional Accountants, Hannah and myself are Accounts Assistants and Jayne who does the credit control.
